Building TradeBook

I built TradeBook after experiencing firsthand the frustration of manually tracking complex F&O positions across messy spreadsheets. I needed a private, broker-agnostic tool that handled strict FIFO calculations accurately without forcing bank connections. By focusing entirely on privacy, seamless CSV data imports, and crystal-clear metrics, TradeBook was purposefully engineered to be exactly the tool I wished I had for my own daily trading operations.

FAQ

Common TradeBook questions

TradeBook supports manually exported CSV files from major Indian brokers. The importer strictly maps critical headers (like tradeDate, instrument, buySell, and premium) to ensure position integrity. You can review and edit mappings before final import.
Your data is stored securely in Firebase Firestore under strict user-specific rules. TradeBook does not connect to your live broker accounts or bank credentials—you control your data by uploading flat files.
Discrepancies usually occur if historical lots were imported with modified quantities or if an expiry close out wasn't properly logged as a zero-premium exit. TradeBook strictly calculates FIFO positions based purely on the trade log you provide.
Yes. You can create multiple distinct portfolios (for example, for different family members) and separate your trades across them. You can also grant shared read or write access to specific portfolios.
The import validation screen will highlight exactly which rows failed and why (e.g. missing tradeDate, invalid expiry). You can use the provided CSV template to correct your data formatting before uploading the batch again.
